Not that this is news or anything, but with the current Hollywood trend of ENTERTAINMENT BIOPICS!, I'm thinking Irving Thalberg. But then again, I'm usually thinking Irving Thalberg. Me and my "dead before their time" folk.

Whose /hasn't been filmed yet/ life would make a good biopic?

http://chud.com/news/1704 If you haven't seen the trailer to The Hitchhiker's Guide of the Galaxy, get your mouse a'clicking and do. Now. Or die.

oh jesus. KEANU REEVES TO PLAY TITULAR CHARACTER IN "THE 8TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD." ...director's previous work includes "XXX" and "The Fast and the Furious." ...writer's previous work includes "National Treasure" and the "Charlie's Angels" sequel.

The failure of Oliver Stone's Alexander has given Baz Luhrmann some hope for his newly-resurrected project. Which gives me some hope.

Justin Timberlake is up to play Elton John in a biopic. Excuse me while I go run after my head. It fell off because I was laughing too hard.

There's a sequel to Underworld. Fear.

A movie based on the life of Marie-Antoinette, a known figure of hatred in my life, is supposedly coming sometime in 2006. Kirsten Dunst is to star as said Queen of France, with Jason Schwartzman as Crazy King Louis XVI, who really wasn't a bad guy at all and really liked clocks, and Rip Torn as Louis XV, father of Louis XVI, as is obvious by numerical order. Checking what IMDB has to say about this: Supposedly, the cast is supposed to be French. ...And yet they say that Steve Coogan, Judy Davis, Marianne Faithfull, and I swear to god, Molly Shannon, are in this. And Shirley Henderson who was Moaning Myrtle, thus proving still that there are only about 50 actors in Britain, and most of them have been in Harry Potter. Sofia Coppola's directing.

And a link to this http://chud.com/news/1497 because I believe in the DiCaprio/Scorese OTP. I mean...

And the obvious:
Clive Owen is still not James Bond. Though even Alan Cumming thinks he should be.

Contains - Undertaking Betty; Kingdom of Heaven; George and the Dragon; Sk8r Boi; The Chronicles of Narnia- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; Seed of Chucky.

Well, this certainly intrigues me. Undertaking Betty has a quirky story, interesting cast *Alfred Molina, Chris Walken, Brenda Blethyn*, and frankly, I'm interested.

I should be extremely ashamed of myself, but I'm going to see the Crusades epic, Kingdom of Heaven, *which the very sound of makes me cring* simply because of the cast involved Read more...Collapse )

I'm also ashamed to say that I'm probably going to see this George and the Dragon rubbish, simply because the subject is of interest to me *and Herman's Hermits did a song based on it.* More info can be found here.

Stop this. Stop this before it's too late. Please.

Purported Cast of The Chronicles of Narnia- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, which my beloved Tinseltown will undoubtably rename "CON - LWW". Bastards. Anyway, Tilda Swinton to play the White Witch *inspired. I always rather liked Tilda Swinton.*, James McAvoy to play Mr. Tumnus *he seems a bit YOUNG*, and Dawn French as the voice of Mrs. Beaver. See what happens when you're in a Harry Potter movie? People come knocking at your door to do other fantasy/epics. *see Kingdom of Heaven for an example*

Too bad this isn't true for Billy Boyd in LOTR, whose next project is Seed of Chucky, with another LOTR alumni, Brad Dourif. Oh, I should have foreseen this happening... Irony is bitter, is it not?

Well, I just don't get it. Blake Edwards is directing a remake of his own film, 10, this one cleverly called 10 Again. *deskface*

Another remake in the works is "The Bad News Bears", with Billy Bob Thornton in Walter Matthau's role.

And yet another remake. Of "Back to School". With Cedric the Entertainer in Rodney Dangerfield's role. It's stuff like this that causes me to lose faith in humanity.

Oh dear god. Disney is in plans to create a movie based on the, you won't guess it... The Jungle Cruise ride. *blankfaced stare* Well, at least it isn't another remake.

And Terry Gilliam continues to astound me. His next project *whether it will ever go through or not is to yet to be seen* is called "Tideland", and the synopsis runs as such- "A young girl retreats into a world of fantasy to escape her harsh life in a small-town Texas; there she talks with four disembodied doll heads." ... Go American!Terry.

And because Steve Coogan amuses me, I'm offering you this news- Alibi "A man (Steve Coogan) runs an "alibi service," which provides cheating spouses with excuses to keep their significant others in the dark about their extramarital activities. When one of his clients (James Marsden) gets into a jam, the man hires a woman (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) to help, but soon finds himself falling for her." Do I find this plot to be inspiring? Of course not. Will I see it? ...I'll rent it. Or rather, my mother will rent it, and I'll watch from my perch by the computer.

The Partidge Family Movie. More details will come when Hollywood decides I need another punch to the stomach.

Because I actually liked "About a Boy" and "High Fidelity", I'll let you know that another Nick Hornby novel is in the works to be filmed. How to Be Good Synopsis- "With her marriage on the rocks, a woman begins to reconsider her husband after he abruptly decides to "be good" by giving away their possessions and inviting poor people to live in their house."

...And in the Alec Guinness movie remake camp, we have "Last Holiday" starring Queen Latifah in the Guinness role. Synopsis, in case you're ignorant- "Queen Latifah plays a sales clerk who learns she's dying of a terminal illness and decides to use all her money to take one last European trip."

I apologize if I insulted you, dear reader, by calling you ignorant if you did not know the synopsis of "Last Holiday". It's just that I'm always a bit upset when Alec Guinness movies get remade. It's just an unnecessary thing. *le argh*

And Reese Witherspoon is set to star in about five more romantic comedies. I don't even see the point to naming them. I'm sorry.

Thus ends my depressed movie post. This is yet another example of why I hate Hollywood *and love Terry Gilliam movies*.

Chris Columbus directing Submariner. *crosses self* I hate to say it, but I just don't like Chris Columbus as a director. He's a fine writer, but he just can't direct. *blasphemy, blasphemy* Not only that, but he's directing the Namor movie. Poor Universal. This just isn't their season.

Right. Batman Begins photosCollapse ).

Movie News for The Comrade Society

Just when you thought you escaped the Harry Potter mania after the spectacular that was Prisoner of Azkaban, the fourth book is currently being casted-

So far, we have Mad Eye Moody - Brendan Gleeson

Madame Maxine - Frances De La Tour

Cedric Diggory - Robert Pattinson

Fleur Delacour - Clemence Poesy *which, by the way, is an awesome name*

And Katie Leung as Cho Chang *hopefully, we'll get a better picture soon...*

And the ever mysterious Stanislav Yanevski, playing Viktor Krum. No picture yet, but he seems Slav enough.

And that's your Harry Potter news for the morning.
